About Us
Trying to come up with a new domain name and/or business name can be difficult with all the catchy names out there to compete with. I (Felicia) like to have something that stands out and that is easy to remember. I had mentioned to Ken about needing a name that had a little something from both of us in it, he came up blank. So I started thinking about names. My nickname on the reptile forums is "Fe" which is Iron, and Ken's last name is Wares, well you get the idea how Wares Iron Balls came to be.
As a child I (Felicia) used to catch skinks and anoles in Miami, FL and hid them in jars in my room. As my mom would say "Girls shouldn't play with reptiles!!" LOL I had always wanted snakes, but was not something that anyone would allow me to have in the home. I started keeping reptiles because of my son, back in April of 05. His pet guinea pig died, we went to the store to get some supplies for our menagerie of animals and I came across a little leopard gecko, which was just as cute as can be. Zach's dad had a fit because I brought a reptile into the house, but I managed to collect four species of geckos with a total count of 100 +/-, over the past few years. Then the BP bug hit. A friend of mine had a little ch girl that was sweet as can be. Andromeda was my first BP and she is still one of my favorites.
I (Ken) have always been into reptiles from collecting garter snakes in the backyard to bringing home pretty much everything that I could catch growing up. We always had some sort of animal in the house, but the house rule was no snakes. Once I was old enough not to really care about the rules I bought an adult female ball python (Mrs. Slithers) no laughing at the name took me weeks to come up with it. From that one snake I started adding more and more. I fell in love with the corn snakes due to the many different colors and patterns. Which is what the majority of my collection is today. I’ve branched out to different colubrids over the years and now have a pretty decent collection of all sorts of them. In recent years I’ve drifted into the ball python world which lead me to Felicia whom shares the same passion as I do for all the reptiles so what better person to share in the hobby with!
Apart, both of us have built a large collection of reptiles, from arboreal to terrestrial, from the legged to the legless. Together we have a very nice collection of Ball Pythons, to view our collection of BPs click here.
